Should we boycott sports until they go green?

My friend is boycotting sports and when I asked why he talked about the energy that is used to light the stadiums and arena, the non-renewable materials used to build the stadiums, the fact that teams travel constantly by plane, contributing to global warming. How can I argue with that? It’s senseless to use all those lights rather than just play basketball and hockey games outside, or play baseball and football games during the day so there is natural sunlight, rather than waste so much energy with the lights and the giant scoreboards, etc. not to mention all the co2 from the massive amount of traffic that these things bring and the teams refuse to wear fair-trade cotton uniforms. Is there a better way to get high school, college, and pro sports to go green, or do we have to boycott them and cause them financial hardship for them to change? It’s frustrating that these people refuse to make simple changes on their own to benefit the world.

Well it would help more to get the greens off their couches and out in the street participating in the sports themselves. Might make a whole .00000000001% difference in Co2 production
